Preparing Your Dog for Grooming
Familiarize Your Pup: Introduce your dog to grooming tools like brushes and clippers before the appointment. Let them sniff and explore these items to reduce anxiety.
Brush Regularly: A week or two before the grooming session, brush your dog’s coat to remove tangles and loose hair. This helps make the grooming process smoother and less stressful.
Bathing Prep: If your dog has an aversion to baths, give them a gentle wipe down with a damp cloth to start getting them used to being handled in water.
Practice Handling: Spend time touching your dog’s paws, ears, and tail to make them comfortable with being handled in those areas.
After Grooming Care
Maintain the Coat: Brush your dog’s coat regularly (at least 2-3 times a week) to prevent matting and keep curls bouncy and healthy.
Use the Right Products: Invest in a good quality dog shampoo and conditioner designed for curly-haired breeds. This will help retain moisture and maintain that fresh, groomed look.
Hydration is Key: Ensure your dog stays hydrated with plenty of fresh water to help keep their skin healthy.
Routine Check-Ups: Schedule regular grooming appointments to keep their coat in top shape, and don’t forget to check for any tangles or discomfort between visits.
Following these steps will help your dog look fabulous while feeling comfy, because pampering shouldn’t just look good—it should feel good too! 🐾✨
OUR STORY
My name is Divine and sister’s name is Jessica. We didnt grow up with dogs because it was considered a luxury in our home country. We developed relationship with a dogs when we moved to the United States after Divine was discharged from USAF due to diagnosed PTSD. Divine was gifted Red our first dog and then we were introduced to the healing and love of a dog. Block Yellow was created to answer the question of others when we took our dog Red to the park. Questions like, what do you use for his coat? Red is so happy, who is his groomer and trainer? Can you watch my dog? . We started extending care to our friends and the rest is history.

Curly-haired dogs, from Poodles to Portuguese Water Dogs and everything in between, are more than just beautiful. These dogs face more stress and pressure from basic groomers. We envision a world where every curly-haired pup struts with confidence, flaunting their unique curls and glorious coats. Their coats are a testament to their uniqueness but also require patience and a-lot of time. Shelters are always in need of kind-hearted volunteers to:
Take dogs out for walks to stretch their legs and brighten their day.
Spend time with them for a day or a weekend to give them a break from the shelter environment.
Drive them to adoption events or vet appointments to help them on their journey to finding a home.
If you’re able to open your heart even further, consider:
Fostering a dog—this provides them with a loving, temporary home and helps them adjust to life outside the shelter.
Donating supplies, food, or funds to keep shelters running and dogs cared for.
We’re calling on you, our amazing community, to lend a helping paw to your local animal shelters!
-
Why not make a paws-itively fantastic choice this month? Instead of treating yourself to that extra Netflix binge or a Starbucks beverage, consider redirecting that cash to a local animal shelter!
With just the price of a few lattes or a month’s worth of streaming, you can make a significant impact in the lives of furry friends in need. Think of it as a subscription service for kindness—your donation can provide food, medical care, and love to dogs and cats waiting for their forever homes.

If you witness someone mistreating a dog, it’s crucial to act immediately. Here’s what to do:
Speak Up: Approach the situation calmly and assertively. If you feel safe, let the person know that their behavior is inappropriate and that dogs deserve better treatment. Sometimes, a simple "Hey, that’s not okay!" can make a difference.
Document: If the situation escalates or continues, take notes or record details about what you see. This information will be valuable later.
Call the Authorities: If you believe the dog's safety is at risk, don’t hesitate to call animal control or the police. Provide them with the details you’ve documented. Your timely report can save a life.
Offer Help: If it feels appropriate, you might also consider reaching out to local animal welfare organizations. They can provide additional resources and take action if necessary.
Remember, speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves is vital. Your voice can make a big difference in a dog’s life!
